Benelabo builds pelletizing around three proven routes — wet granulation, extrusion–spheronization and centrifugal pelleting — so the machine follows your formulation instead of the reverse. The equipment family covers high-shear wet granulators, spinning extruders, extruder–spheronizer pairs and multifunction pellet machines, with the matching spray guns for centrifugal and wet granulation processes. Route selection is driven by the pellet you need: size and sphericity targets, drug layering versus matrix pellets, and downstream coating plans. Typical programs run from 30 g lab feasibility through pilot parameter locking to production batches, and the same formulation can be carried across routes on the multifunction platform before you commit. Send your formulation and target pellet spec — the route, machine set and process window come back with a verifiable sampling plan.
Three Routes to Pellets

| Route | Machines | Pellet size | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extrusion-spheronization | Wet granulator (feed prep) + spinning extruder + spheronizer | 0.2–2 mm | Dense, smooth pellets; MCC-based formulations; controlled release |
| Centrifugal pelletizing | LBZ multifunction machine | 0.5–20 mm | Rounded cores, layering on sugar or API seeds, high sphericity |
| Fluid-bed layering & coating | DPL fluid beds + Wurster guns | 0.25–2 mm | Functional films, API layering, hot melt coats |
One Formulation, Three Machines, Same Pellet
Pellet quality is decided by the wet mass and the process window — not by accident. The spinning extruder keeps heat-sensitive wet masses cool with low-shear rotation; the spheronizer’s friction plate geometry is matched to your formula; and the centrifugal route rounds seeds without crushing them. Because the same twin-screw feeder and fluid-bed platform appear across all three routes, parameters you lock at 0.12 kg in the lab translate upward instead of restarting at each scale.
Typical Programs
- Controlled-release pellets: extrusion-spheronization + fluid-bed functional coating
- Layered pellets: centrifugal core building + Wurster API layering
- Taste-masked pellets: extrusion + rapid-film coating, pediatric-ready
- Herbal and nutraceutical pellets: low-shear wet mass handling for natural extracts

Route selection and formulation basics are covered in Micro-Pellet Production: Equipment for Every Route from 0.25 to 20 mm; scale-up from the lab bench is covered in our pelletizing article series — and every route can be trialled on your own formulation before purchase.
